Grasshopper Tennis

This term, we have had so much fun with Big John! Big John came to teach us tennis skills. It has been tricky, but we sure have made progress over the 4 sessions. Big John has taught us to have fun with a racket and tennis ball. We have tried things like turning our racket into a "race track" to balance and move the tennis ball on it. We pretended that our racket was a trampoline and we bounced the ball on it, clapped and then tried to catch the ball again. We played all sorts of team games too. Thanks Big John!

Fast Words - Word Power

49 words!  Great job Ava.  I love the way you have thought about some of the rhyming words that you know!

Kawenga/Responsibility

Our value focus this term has been "Kawenga/Responsibility."  We know that we can be responsible in lots of different areas.  An example of this:  to be responsible in the morning, we need to make sure we are ready for learning (put our book bag away, get brainfood etc).  A new aspect of our classroom this term has been "iTime" - we are learning to show responsibility at our independent learning time during reading.  In the morning, we make decisions about what we need to spend our time doing.  This helps us to be responsible for our learning and time management.  At my home conference, ask me how I am going with this...

Word Power

We are learning to write words quickly using a variety of materials.

We are also learning to write word families.

I can write fast words.

I can write a word family.

On Friday, we get together with Tohora (Room 2) to do Word Power.  Each week we practise a 'fast word' and turn it into a word family.  These are the activities we do each week...

Here is an example of my learning...
